In accordance with the results of SPETA (1980) the nomenclatural position of Microrrhinum (Chaenorhinum) populations collected from Romania are discussed. As the differentiation between the North, South and Central European populations is reflected in scatter diagram, the nomenclatural distinction of these populations seems also acceptable. True Microrrhinum minus L. Pourr. Was not collected in Romania; the majority of populations collected here belong to Microrrhinum praetermissum (Delastre) Speta 1980, southern populations belong to M. janchenii Speta 1980, and true M. litorale (Bernh. Ex Willd.) Speta 1977 is represented in our collections only from Yugoslavia. Some possible evolutionary reasons of the variation are briefly discussed.
